Homestead

Repotted a bunch of basil outside, transplanted the corpse flower into a bigger pot, got the compost out and ready for the next batch of whatever.

Got some new garden racks, put all the garden stuff on it, yay. Planted all the rest of my two dozen peppers, moved a bunch of basil outside.

It’s starting to cool down, finally into the 40s.

Health

Overall feeling pretty good, just got a little sick at the end of the month, no biggie.

Games

Nic and I had a little date night at Vigilante, and played some Machi Koro. It’s so good.

Put together a character keeper for Slugblaster, and it rules.

Winding up our game of Public Access, which has been great.

Finally getting into the campaign of Night Witches!

Did a writing workshop for The Between with the Gauntlet folks, working on a mystery inspired by The Innocents.

Played a one shot of Freebooters on the Frontier, played through the Conspiracy of Ravens adventure.

Played in a game of Lady Blackbird, which was a treat that I haven’t had in a while. Fun finale with some good punching-through-the-chest action.

Played in one of Mads’ games of sci-fi Trophy Dark, always nice, and another one with the Writer’s Retreat incursion.

Getting back on the Rune train to get my ten plays in.

Looking forward to reading the Silt Verses!

Media

  • The Innocents (SO GOOD)
  • Read a bunch of Junji Ito—My Dear Ancestors, Slug Girl, Army of One, Licking Woman, Dissection Girl, Glyceride (Greased), and so on. Nom nom nom.
  • Watched Strange Way of Life (Pedro Pascal) and All Kinds of Love (Tilda Swinton)
  • Our Flag Means Death, season 2
  • Loki, season2
  • Lower Decks, ongoing
  • Evil Dead Rising, V for Vendetta, and John Wick 4 on the plane
  • The new Ahsoka series, eh.
  • Listening to a lot of Magnus Archives, made it to 100!
  • Tour of My House OMG
  • Gen V
  • Suitable Flesh, what did I just watch (in the best way)
  • The Babysitter (forgettable)
  • Halloween 3: Season of the Witch, underrated!

Work

Doing a little bit of fill-in work and teaching for some cohorts in Denver while I’m on rotation for a few weeks. New cohort starting up, and they seem nice.

Other Stuff

Made an enclosure for the laser cutter so I don’t smoke myself out. Had to model and 3d print a new leg for it, so yay future. Made a few things for some folks, which felt good.

Had a little trip with Nic to Rhode Island, visited a lighthouse, tromped around in the woods, hung out with some friends, really nice and relaxing.

Finally met one of our new neighbors (the one in the 4.5M house) when they invited us to a halloween party, which was very nice of them.

Plans

BGG.Con!
