(Published a few years late, just found my notes. Woo, what a year.)

2019 in Review

Okay, here’s the quick overview of my 2019:

Travel:

• Went to Niagara Falls and Rochester for NYE 2019
• Went to London to visit folks and do tourist stuff
• Went to Glasgow with Nichole while she taught data science
• Went to Paris for fun, saw Notre Dame just before it burned
• Went to Providence/Wakefield for an improv festival
• Went to Houston and Dallas a few times

The Black Vault 2019

Ran auditions, put together an entirely new cast, prepared and ran rehearsals, figured out tech stuff, found and rented a venue, did all the production tasks, did promotion, hosted and played ambient sound for shows, ran box office, stage managed, and actually came out a few dollars ahead on the whole thing. Whew.

Theater/art stuff:

• Finished up my first year on BIPAC council
• Gave a Nerd Nite talk about Larping
• Worked with folks in the 810 writer’s group on podcasts and tv/video stuff
• Performed in Shattered (dramatic improv, which was awesome)
• Performed a bunch of shows with Golden
• Performed in Maestro in Paris
• Performed in Next Week on Game of Thrones
• Co-directed some Fancy Pants
• Taught an improv fight choreography workshop
• Ran a series of “How to improvise Lovecraft” workshops
• Played some music with Mongoose
• Took three-day IDI (Intimacy Directors International) workshop in Toronto
• Performed in May I Murder You, Nic’s capstone show for CTT advanced studies
• Took stage combat classes with Toby Minor
• Performed with Golden in Ocean State Improv Festival (Wakefield)
• Went to the Crashbox open house
• Played in Theatresports at Hideout
• Went to High Crimes open rehearsal at Crashbox
• Interviewed new folks to join BIPAC council
• Auditioned and cast new folks in Golden
• Went to Houston for TXi Texas Fight Intensive
• Created ballot for BIPAC awards
• Performed storytelling at Austin Batcave story department — Resist
• Directed some Maestro at the Hideout
• Curtains podcast staged reading
• BIPAC awards ceremony
• Finished script for Sweet Ermengarde, applied and got in Frontera Fest
• Held auditions and cast for Sweet Ermengarde
• Saw a ton of movies

Work:

• Got a senior developer job at RigUp
• Quit my job at RigUp
• Got a senior developer contract at Visa
• Quit my contract at Visa
• Got a job teaching at Flatiron School

Folks and Stuff:

• Pai is awesome, and it’s great to watch her be a person
• Hung out with Dad and Jane in Rochester
• Legumentine’s Day Party
• Made candles from Topo Chico bottles
• Got a sweet Couple’s Massage w/Nic
• Made 3d printed d20 dice containers for folks
• Built the Apprehension Engine for Black Vault performances
• Hung out with Nic’s parents
• Hung out with Katie when she visited
• Full Moon party at Deano’s
• Book reading parties
• Secret Satan party
• Cleaned out the storage area, built new shelves and reorganized
• Built a woodworking workshop and started woodworking again
• Got the house mostly cleaned and organized

Weddings:

• Justin and Jeanette
• Jason and Laura Lee
• Peter and Lindsey
• Mike and Megan
  (Every one of these, I was like, these people are obviously so perfect for each other. So much goods, in all different ways.)
